These guys are awesome! The vans are older but in great shape. Super friendly people! My girlfriend and I just spent 5 nights all around Maui! We camped on the beach, camped near fresh water caves, waterfalls, etc. we even got engaged! Thanks Maui Camper Rental for making our trip so amazing!

We had the best time in our camper van. There were no problems, but if you’re wanting a new-feeling rental, I recommend the Element over the camper van. But if you are a westie lover, this is the place for you! So nice to camp Maui – then you can explore everywhere and just pull over somewhere to sleep. Really great idea. The airport pick up was late at night and went seamlessly; we were in our van within an hour of landing and on our way.

Maui Camper Rental is a gem.  On an island of such biological diversity and hotels that strangle you with their exorbitant rates and miscellaneous charges – renting a Westfalia and traveling the island is the best way to experience the true Maui without breaking the bank.

The vehicle was in excellent shape and their local insights made a difference.  Cruising with the windows down, Hawaiian music playing and coastal scenery abound – you have no choice to have your soul shake with joy.  Each night, we were able to park right on the beach, pop the top of the camper up and have views and sounds of the ocean.  One night we had a beach all to ourselves.

This is not for everyone.  If you’re looking for a manicured vacation, you’ll be let down.  This is for the adventurous spirit and those that want to enjoy the real Maui.

I highly recommend Maui Camper Rental…please keep a ‘Westy’ handy for my return.

Aloha,
Ken Q.

Well what can I say about the trip of a lifetime?

We got engaged in the Westy.

We drove to Hana with no problems. We spent a magical time at a National Park.

It was all because of two things: our adventurous nature and the best Westy in the world. We had “Ruby Red” and she was a gem!

Brandon was totally cool and showed me everything I needed to know. The van was legit and had no issues. I would recommend Maui Camper Rental to anyone headed to Maui. We spent less for a home and car in one spot than anyone could manage with a hotel + rental car. Why would you want to sleep in one spot anyway?

Dear Maui Camper Rental,
I just wanted to extend my gratitude to you and your business. I was a little weary about taking a camping vacation but I would do it again in a heartbeat! I met my childhood friend from Vermont in Maui and we had the best time! I bought a little BBQ along with food and snacks. We ate like Kings! BBQ’d Steak and Lobster, kabobs, and seafood. The cooler that you supplied kept our food perfectly. We just bought a bag of ice each day to keep everything cool. We made bacon, eggs & pancakes on the gas stove in the camper in the mornings along with fresh brewed coffee in the French read that you provided.

The best part of the trip was staying at a different beach each night. Waking up to a different beach each day was amazing. The hike through the bamboo forest was my favorite day. I recommend it to everyone! The waterfall at the end was breath taking and the hike itself was invigorating! I can’t wait to bring my nieces with me next time. I will definitely do this again!

The camper was very user friendly and easy to use. It got fantastic gas mileage and best of all we looked like locals! Everyone asked about the van! So much fun! I’m now Aloha Camper’s biggest fan.

Thank you,
Tessa Gillespi (Seattle, WA)

My partner and I just returned from a family reunion in Maui. We had several events to attend around the island, and thought it would be easier to combine our ‘hotel’ with our wheels for getting to the events. We thought the best way to accomplish this would be to rent a camper van. We rented one from Maui Camper Rental, and are very happy that we did. The van was well-used, as we expected it would be for the reasonable price. It was also clean and mechanically fit. The only thing that didn’t function was the refrigerator, which they had stated on their website. They supplied a cooler instead, which worked out fine.

Erik, the man who greeted us at the appointed time, had everything ready for us, and spent 30 minutes carefully explaining the vagaries of where we could legally camp, and where we couldn’t, etc. He explained about the permits needed for some campgrounds, and supplied us with all the maps and info we needed. Each night we stayed in a different spot, and everything he told us about the realities of camping in a van on Maui turned out to be true. It was so much fun to wake up by a different beach each morning, and we slept so well in the pop-up part of the camper, with the ocean breezes blowing through the mesh windows.

Ariel and Erik were very helpful from our first inquiring emails right through the thank you email we received after returning the vehicle. Our expereince with Maui Camper Rental couldn’t have been better! We’ve stayed on Maui in hotels, B & B’s, hostels, and tent camping, and this was the best time we’ve had. The feeling of freedom was wonderful!

Thank you Maui Camper Rental!

Just wanted to write to say how much we loved touring Maui in your Westy! It was more fun than we even imagined it would be. We rented the van for 4 nights and wished we had it for longer. We spent two weeks in Hawaii and look back at our time spent camping as a major highlight.

We circumnavigated the entire island camping on the hill to Polipoli (road was washed out so we couldn’t stay in the park), Koki Beach, Kipahulu Park, and Honolua Bay. Everywhere we stayed we felt safe and enjoyed awesome views – better than anything you can get in a condo!

We really enjoyed our time heading to the east of the island because the van allowed us a slower pace so we could stop and hike, swim, eat, or just relax whenever we wanted to. We found a very secluded spot just past Hana at Koki Beach where we camped and had the best view of the ocean (picture attached)! It was also awesome to reach the summit of Haleakela, watch the sunrise, and then cook up bacon and eggs on top of th world – we received many jealous looks from others who clearly had to leave their condo far to early to enjoy a yummy breakfast like we were cooking. Watching the surfers and whales in the ocean in Honolua Bay was spectacular as well.

I’ve attached a few pics we took in our travels with the van. Thanks again for such a great time and for all your help!

Definitely will rent your van again next time we come to Maui and are recommending you to all our friends!

We wanted to drop you a line about our camping adventure. We had a fantastic time.

Our original plan was to go to the YMCA camp, then to Olawalu, on to Kanaha and end at Papalua. However, after talking to Mo, she politely steered us to Wainapanapa and away from Olawalu. From Wainapanapa we went down to the National Park and stayed at the camping area for $10. What a deal! We ended up two nights on Papalua. On a day trip to Lahaina we stopped at Olawalu. Ironically, this was the same camp that Carol stayed 20 years ago with her whole family including 70+year old Grandparents. We went back to Papalua for another enjoyable evening. What a great time and adventure!

We would never have felt as comfortable and relaxed making the trek and going to the places we did if it hadn’t been for her suggestions. You have a great person there!!

We are telling everyone we know how much fun and what a great deal this is.” – Bill Johnstone and Carol Barnes (Ypsilanti, MI)

Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time in Maui. It was great to have the freedom to travel around on our schedule. We had some great comments and inquiry about the VW almost everyday. People wanted to know all about it. It was also kind of cool to feel a little like a local. Thanks again. ” – Jeff & Kim Regier (Colorado)
